Albion tops Washington in opening game of Rokicki Challenge

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Albion improved to 3-0 and advanced to the championship game of the Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Challenge with an 81-61 victory over Washington (Mo.).
The Britons shot 57 percent from the floor including 56 percent (9-16) from three-point range, while holding the Bears to just 39 percent from the floor.
Mike Thomas led Albion with 14 followed by Garrett Gibbons and Mike Bailey with 11 apiece. Rob Keller paced Washington with 15 followed by Anthony Hollins with 12.
Albion held a 37-25 edge on the boards with Travis DePree, Brandon Crawford and Will Braaksma each grabbing five. Troy Ruths hauled down eight for the Bears. Lonny Fulse dished out seven assists in the win, while Scott Stone led the Bears with three.
Albion plays in Sunday's championship game against the DePauw-Wisconsin Lutheran winner, while Washington faces the loser of that game in the 2 p.m. consolation.
