Tigers top Kangaroos; complete weekend sweep

January 14, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the opening seven minutes of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game with visiting Austin and never trailed on the way to a 70-51 win.DePauw improved to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC, while the Kangaroos dropped to 4-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Tigers scored the game's first seven points and led by as many as 16 in the first half before taking a 34-20 lead into halftime. That advantage reached as many as 26 midway through the second half.
Reid Sakel paced the Tigers with 17 points and nailed 5-of-9 three-pointers in the win. Stephen Schott added 13 points, while Austin Brown and Matt McDonald each scored 10. Mike Moore led DePauw with four assists, while Schott and McDonald each grabbed six rebounds.
Jason Burton led Austin with eight points in the loss.
DePauw hosts Rose-Hulman on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
