Joe Deifel joined the DePauw staff in April 2010 as the offensive line and tight ends coach and became the offensive coordinator for the 2011 season. He previously served as a graduate assistant and tight ends coach at Purdue.

Deifel began his college coaching career at Purdue in July 2007 as an offensive graduate assistant/tight ends and offensive line coach until January 2009 when he was named graduate assistant/tight ends coach.

Prior to coming to Purdue, Deifel served as an assistant football coach as well as offensive and special teams coordinator at his alma mater, Henry Clay High School, in Lexington, Ky. He also was the head freshman coach during his stint.

A 2004 graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., Deifel earned four letters and was a starting tight end for the Thundering Herd. He was named to the Mid-American Conference Football Honor Roll (academic all-conference) in 2001. As a senior he caught 16 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown.

The Lexington, Ky., native earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Marshall in 2004 and a master's degree in health and kinesiology from Purdue in 2009.
