Community Day to honor Coach Nick

September 2, 2003

This Saturday, September 6, the DePauw football team opens its 116th season and welcomes the community to an afternoon of free football.

The annual Community Day game kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at Blackstock Stadium as the Tigers not only open the season, but begin Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play as well. DePauw hosts Rhodes College in the first game of the 2003 season for both teams.

Saturday is also Nick Mourouzis Day in Greencastle as the community recognizes DePauw's legendary football coach for his numerous contributions to Greencastle and Putnam County. Coach Mourouzis, who begins his 23rd season as head coach, will retire at the conclusion of the 2003 season. The release announcing his retirement may be accessed here.
