September 27, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior defensive end Dustin Hertel has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24.
Hertel led DePauw with 11 tackles, including three for losses of 18 yards and one 14-yard sack, in Sunday's 26-15 hard-fought loss to Trinity.
The game took nearly 19 hours to complete after the two teams played 9:20 of the first quarter on Saturday night before a lightning delay of over three hours forced the postponement of the game until Sunday.
Hertel also recovered two fumbles and returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown that gave the Tigers an early 9-0 lead.
