DePauw Selected Third in SCAC Preseason Football Poll

2008 Monon Bell 1 Spud Dick.jpgAugust 20, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. —  In voting by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference head football coaches, DePauw was picked third in the conference's preseason poll.

The Tigers totaled 39 points including one first-place vote. Defending champion Millsaps picked up 41 points with a pair of first-place votes. Centre was picked fourth followed by Austin, Rhodes and Sewanee.

DePauw enters the season ranked 19th by USA Today Sports Weekly and 25th by D3football.com. The Tigers return 41 starters from last year's 8-2 team. Included in that is the return of 17 starters with seven on offense, eight on defense and both kickers.

The Tigers open the 2009 season on Saturday, September 12, when they travel to Anderson for a 7 p.m. contest. DePauw begins SCAC play the next Saturday at home against Centre.
