Cath named Division III Coach of the Year; Kuresman earns Ashe Award

May 21, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw men's tennis team picked up two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's major awards at the annual awards banquet at the national championships.

Tom Cath was named the Division III Coach of the Year for the second time in his 20-year career at DePauw as he previously earned the honor in 1995. Cath directed the Tigers to a number-eight ranking in Division III and a 19-6 record this season after finishing 11-13 last season. In his 20 seasons, Cath has posted a 290-142 record and was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year this season.

Kuresman was named the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership & Sportsmanshp which goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements. Kuresman has a 27-5 singles record and is competing at the NCAA Division III Singles Championship in Santa Cruz, Calif.
