Jaworski earns national award
September 18, 2003
Brian Jaworski, men's assistant soccer coach and a 1989 DePauw graduate, has earned an AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year honor. Scholastic Coach and Athletic Director Magazine selected 500 men and women from the high school and collegiate levels.
Jaworski has served as an assistant to head coach Page Cotton since 1991 and in those 12 seasons the Tigers have compiled a 156-52-11 record and have competed in NCAA postseason play four times in that span.
A 2002 inductee into the DePauw Athletic Hall of Fame, Jaworski is the only player to earn all-America honors in men's soccer as he earned the distinction in 1988.
The award is based on a coach's longevity, expertise, contributions to the school and community and special achievements throughout their careers. Nominations were made in their favor by head coaches, athletic administrators, past and current student-athletes, fans and Board members. The winners were selected from a field of more than 350,000 assistant coaches across the country.
