DePauw women capture SCAC title; Shaffer defends individual championships

The DePauw women swept the 2003 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference team and individual championships in the conference meet held at the LaVern Gibson Course, just east of Terre Haute.

 

The DePauw women won with 44 points followed by Centre with 68, Trinity with 77 and Rhodes with 92. The championship by DePauw marked its first since 2001, while the men captured their fourth consecutive title.

 

Individually, DePauw junior Natalie Shaffer successfully defended her 2002 title by covering the 5,000 meters in 18:42.91. Rhodes' Marie Brandewiede finished second in 18:51.62
