Sipe named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week

sipeweb.jpgDePauw junior second baseman Ryan Sipe has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performances from March 29 through April 4.

 

Sipe hit .529 for the week (9-17) and extended his hitting streak to 13 straight games as the Tigers went 5-0 with a win over Franklin and a four-game sweep over SCAC Eastern Division opponent Sewanee. He had two doubles and three homers on the week with one home run each in three of the games against Sewanee. He scored seven runs, drove in nine and had a 1.176 slugging percentage in those five games.

 

For the season, Sipe is among the SCAC leaders in eight offensive categories. He's tied for first with 14 doubles and ranks second in batting average (.454), hits (49), slugging percentage (.769) and on-base percentage (.535). Sipe is tied for second with 83 total bases and tied for third with six homers in addition to ranking fifth with 35 runs scored.
