Ehinger named SCAC Tri-Offensive Player of the Week

ehingerweb.jpgDePauw senior first baseman Kevin Ehinger (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was one of three players named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for performances from April 12-18.

 

The Tigers posted a perfect 5-0 record last week and Ehinger was a big part of the DePauw offense that averaged 11 runs per game. Ehinger hit .550 (11-20) with seven runs scored, 13 RBI and a 1.056 slugging percentage.

 

In Saturday's second game with Wabash broke the DePauw single-season RBI record of 54 held by Mike Ottsen in 1986. Ehinger hit a grand slam in Saturday's first game with Wabash and another in Sunday's second game at Washington (Mo.) University which put the Tigers ahead 10-9 in the sixth after they had trailed 9-4.

 

For the season Ehinger is hitting .417 (5th in SCAC), slugging .763 (2nd) and has an on-base percentage of .473 (7th). He leads the conference in RBI with 63, is tied for second with nine homers, tied for second with five triples, third with 106 total bases, fourth with 58 hits and eighth with 39 runs scored. Ehinger ranked among the nation's leaders last week in slugging percentage and RBI per game and had the most total RBI in Division III.

 

Also sharing the honor this week were outfielder Ryan Skertich of Millsaps and third baseman Scott Tourville of Rose-Hulman.
