GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The DePauw doubles team of Liz Bondi and Elizabeth Steele captured the 2004 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Women's Doubles championship after defeating Amelia Crace and Lauren Parsons of Denison in the semifinals 6-0, 6-2. Bondi then defeated Steele 6-1, 6-3 in the singles championship. In the semifinals, Bondi defeated Kelly Glassburn of Ohio Wesleyan 6-0, 6-1 and Steele beat Parsons 6-0, 6-0.

Bondi and Steele advance to the Oct. 14-17 ITA National Small College Championships at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. The ITA National Small College Championships began in 1986 and annually crowns men's and women's singles and doubles national champions in each of the ITA's four small college divisions (NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College) during the month of October. These championships are the only national tournaments for singles and doubles at the NCAA Division II and NAIA level, and the only tournaments that combine all levels of Junior/Community Colleges (NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, and California Community Colleges).

Participants are determined through the Wilson/ITA Regional Championships, held in September and October, which serve as qualifying tournaments. The national champions from each division square off in the "Super Bowl" of Small College Tennis to determine the overall ITA National Small College Champions (who then earn berths into the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, a Division I event).
