DePauw to face Northwestern in exhibition game

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The DePauw men's basketball team travels to Evanston, Ill., on Thursday, November 11, to tangle with Division I Northwestern University in an exhibition game. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tickets are $5 each.
Senior Joey Hanger leads the Tigers into the 2004-05 season.
The game will be a homecoming for Tigers' head coach Bill Fenlon who graduated from Northwestern in 1979 and earned four varsity letters for the Wildcats. Fenlon begins his 13th season with the Tigers and is DePauw's all-time winningest coach.
"I am appreciative of coach (Bill) Carmody giving us the opportunity to play," Fenlon said. "I know it will exciting for both our players and our fans."
DePauw returns nine letterwinners and players who started at all five positions from last year's 16-10 team. Northwestern was 14-15 last season and tied for fifth in the Big Ten with an 8-8 conference record and returns four starters.
The Tigers and Wildcats have met four times in regular season games with each team winning twice. The teams first met in the 1921-22 season with DePauw winning 27-19. Northwestern won the last encounter by a 67-36 count during the 1945-46 season.
