May 15, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Junior Liz Bondi and junior Jill Anderson are scheduled to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships beginning Saturday, May 21, at Kalamazoo College.
Bondi (pictured), one of 32 players selected to the singles championship, takes a 30-2 singles record into the tournament and is seeded second. She has won each of her last 16 singles matches including all three at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships where she was named the conference's player of the year.
A two-time all-American, Bondi advanced to the 2003 NCAA singles quarterfinals and was the runner-up at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's fall championship in 2004.
Bondi and Anderson will compete in the national doubles championships and are seeded third after posting a 14-4 record during the spring season.
The duo were named to the SCAC all-tournament team after winning all three matches at the conference tournament. Bondi teamed with Elizabeth Steele in the fall to win the ITA Super Bowl of Tennis and became the first Division III players in the ITA's national indoor championships. As a freshman, Bondi advanced to the NCAA doubles finals with 2003 DePauw graduate, Haley Heathman.
