17th-ranked Tigers fall to 11th-ranked Bears in closing minutes

September 2, 2005, Wheaton, Ill. - The 17th-ranked DePauw women's soccer team dropped its season opener to 11th-ranked Washington (Mo.) University by a 1-0 score as the Bears scored the game-winner in the 87th minute. The game was the first in the Wheaton/DePauw Classic at Wheaton.

The teams battled through a scoreless tie before Washington's Talia Bucci scored on a deflection with an assist from Carly Anderson.

The Bears outshout the Tigers 12-3 and held a 6-0 advantage in corners. Brooke Shipley recorded four saves for the Tigers, while Nina Sass had one for Washington.

DePauw faces Willamette on Saturday.
