May 4, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Four DePauw tennis players have earned invitations to the NCAA Division III Women's Singles and Doubles Championships held at the University of California, Santa Cruz, May 20-22.
Liz Bondi (pictured), the 2005 singles runner-up, has earned the top singles seed, while teammate Amrita Padda has also earned a spot in the 32-player field. The doubles team of Bondi and Padda was also selected as the number one seed. The tandem of Erin Andrade and Connie Shim also earned a spot in the 16-team field.
A two-time all-American in both singles and doubles, Bondi is 16-0 in singles play this season and 17-0 in doubles action. In addition to her runner-up singles finish last year, Bondi advanced to the quarterfinals in 2003 and enters this weekend's play with an 87-7 career singles mark. She was a doubles finalist in 2003 and a quarterfinalist last year and has recorded an 88-10 career doubles mark.
Padda is 16-7 in singles this season and 31-13 in her career and has combined with Bondi to post a 15-0 doubles record this season, while Andrade and Shim are 27-3 this year including 14-1 in dual matches.
DePauw opens NCAA tournament team play on Friday, May 5, when it hosts Kenyon College in a first-round match at 4 p.m.
