Tigers face Emmanuel tonight in NCAA sectional

March 9, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The 27-3 Tigers compete in the round of 16 for the second straight year and fifth time in the last 10 when they travel to Boston and face host and 13th-ranked Emmanuel (29-1). Tipoff on Friday, March 9, is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Jean Yawkey Center.
The Tigers, ranked ninth in the D3hoops.com poll and 11th in the USA Today/ESPN coaches’ rankings, earned a spot in the sectional with a 74-66 win over Denison last Saturday. DePauw topped Transylvania by a 74-54 count in the first round.
DePauw is led by Liz Bondi who averages 15.9 points per game and ranks sixth in the country with 59.3 percent shooting. Emily Marshall leads the Tigers with 6.0 rebounds per game, while Suzy Doughty paces the team and ranks 17th nationally with 5.6 assists each game.
Emmanuel is making its seventh straight NCAA appearance and 13th overall after Satuday’s 71-66 win over 17th-ranked Brandeis. The Saints beat Salve Regina, 80-67, in the first round.
Four players score in double figures for the Saints led by Jade Paez’s 11.9 per contest. Iman Davis follows with 11.5, while Brittany Bushman adds 11.2 and Tommia Davis 10.6 along with a team-high 7.0 rebounds.
Iman Davis leads the way with 4.1 assists and 3.8 steals per game with Paez contributing 3.9 assists and 3.2 steals. As a team the Saints are second in Division III with 17.5 steals per outing.
The evening’s first game features Calvin (27-2) against Southern Maine (27-2) at 5:30 p.m. The winners meet on Saturday at 7 p.m.
