DePauw Tops Kenyon for 19th Straight Home Win

December 19, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw shot 57.7 percent from the floor in the first half in building an 11-point halftime lead and held off a couple of Kenyon second-half runs on the way to a 77-66 win over the Lords. DePauw improved to 6-2 with its 19th straight home win, while Kenyon dropped to 2-7.
Kenyon scored the game's first points, but DePauw never trailed from that point forward. The Tigers led by as many as 12 in the opening 20 minutes on the way to a 40-29 lead at the intermission.
The Lords closed the gap to four at 43-39, but Mike Moore's jumper and Brian Oilar's three-pointer push the margin back to nine with 15:25 left. DePauw stretched the lead to 18 after Moore's basket, back-to-back threes by Steve Lemasters and Moore, a Lemasters free throw and Stephen Schott's bucket made it 61-43 with just under 11 minutes remaining.
Later in the half, Kenyon used a 10-2 run capped by Kodey Haddox's three-pointer with 2:43 left to cut the margin to 71-64, but that's as close as the Lords got as the Tigers knocked down 6-of-7 free throws in the closing minutes.
Schott paced the Tigers with 22 points and nine rebounds after scoring 16 in the first half. Moore followed with 19 and a game-high nine assists, while Lemasters and Oilar each scored 11. Lemasters also hauled down a career-best eight rebounds as DePauw held a 36-23 margin on the boards.
Kodey Haddox led all scorers with 25, while Korey Haddox added 18. Bryan Yelvington led the Lords with seven boards.
DePauw shot 51.9 percent from the floor for the game including 41.2 percent from three-point range, while Kenyon shot 46.3 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The Tigers return to action on December 29 when they play host to the Tampa Bay Shootout. DePauw faces Case Western Reserve in the 5 p.m. game, while Colby-Sawyer squares off with Mount St. Joseph in the 7 p.m. contest.Back
