Colby-Sawyer Takes Third in Tampa Bay Shootout

December 30, 2007, Tampa, Fla. - Colby-Sawyer shot 69 percent in the first half on the way to a 29-point lead at the intermission and held on for a 92-80 win over Case Western Reserve in the Tampa Bay Shootout third-place game. The Chargers improved to 5-4 with the win, while the Spartans dropped to 7-4.

Colby-Sawyer used a 25-6 run over the final 7:30 of the first half to take a 55-26 halftime lead as they also held the Spartans to just 23 percent first-half shooting.

Case Western scored the first eight points of the second half at the beginning of a 26-8 run which closed the margin to 63-55 with 11:19 remaining. Rob Skuski's jumper with 6:44 left knotted the score at 67-67, but the Chargers scored nine straight and held on down the stretch.

Duncan Szeliga paced Colby-Sawyer with 31 points and added nine rebounds, while Jon Chaloux added 19 and Dave Rosso followed with 16. Ryan Murray led the way with 11 rebounds and Matt Lemieux dished out six assists.

Steve Young led Case Western with 24 points and nailed four three-pointers in the second half, while Brad Sutton added 17. Kevin Herring finished with 13 and Skuski followed with 11.Brandon Bradford, Mason Conrad and Skuski each hauled down seven boards as the Spartans held a 41-35 rebounding edge. Herring led the way with five assists.

The all-tournament team will be selected at the conclusion of the 3 p.m. championship game.
