12th-ranked Tigers Top Rhodes and Stay Unbeaten in SCAC

February 8, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - The 12th-ranked Tigers never trailed on the way to their seventh straight win as they defeated visiting Rhodes, 78-50. DePauw improved to 18-3 overall and 11-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, while the Lynx dropped to 10-11 overall and 3-8 in the conference.
The Tigers jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first five minutes of the game on the way to a 39-20 halftime lead. They then scored the first seven of the second half to seal the victory.
With the win, DePauw extended its home win streak to 22 straight. The win was also the Tigers' 41st straight regular season home victory and their 38th straight home conference win.
Jenna Fernandez led the Tigers with 18, while Gretchen Haehl added 11 as she hit all three three-pointers she attempted. Emily Marshall had nine points and nine rebounds, while Cassie Pruzin dished out seven assists. Ashley Farrell paced Rhodes with 13 points and Becky Atnip added 11.
The Tigers shot 42.3 percent for the game and held the Lynx to 33.3 percent. DePauw held a 55-28 edge on the boards including 23 offensive boards which led to 33 second chance points.
DePauw hosts Birmingham-Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m., while Rhodes is at Centre.
