Tigers Open Season with Doubleheader Loss to Transylvania

February 24, 2008, Louisville, Ky. - DePauw opened the 2008 season against Transylvania and came out on the short end of both ends of the doubleheader. The Pioneers took game one by a 16-10 score and the nightcap, 10-4.
Transylvania scored 10 runs in the bottom of the second of game one and never trailed despite the fact that DePauw scored in each of the last six innings.
DePauw banged out 13 hits as Jon Newman, Taylor Hoffman, Drew Holy, Kyle Thompson and Jeremy Dickinson each had two. Hoffman and Dickinson each drove in a pair. Transylvania collected 14 hits with Bryan Baker, Ben Young and Nick Moser each finishing with two. Adam Clark banged out the game's only home run.
Adam Wilkins picked up the win after five innings of work, while Jeremy Alland suffered the loss.
In the nightcap, Transylvania broke the game open in the eighth with a five-run uprising. Mike Stout totaled three of DePauw's six hits and Adam Ford drove in two. Phil Blakely had two of the Pioneers' eight hits and Ben Young drove in two.
Ben Luking notched the win after going five innings, while John Tschantz suffered the loss despite allowing just one earned frun in seven innings.
