Seventh-Ranked Tigers Extend Streak to Nine

March 14, 2008, Ridgeland, Miss. - The seventh-ranked Tigers improved to 9-1 on the season and extended their win streak to nine straight with wins over University of Texas-Dallas and Hendrix.
In the first game against UT-Dallas, the Tigers trailed headed into the bottom of the seventh, but rallied with three runs to win, 6-5. They then defeated Hendrix by a 10-2 count in a game shortened due to the eight-run rule.
Against UT-Dallas, DePauw scored three in the bottom of the third before UT-Dallas knotted the score with three in the sixth and took a 5-3 lead with a pair in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, Rachel Gill drew a one-out walk and moved to second on Kelly Schwerzler's single. Ashlee Anton's ground out moved the runners to second and third and Gill scored on a passed ball. Carolyn Bartlett's single scored Schwerzler and tied the game at 5-5.
Kate Shipley then walked and moved up a base with Bartlett after a passed ball. Emma Minx then delivered a game-winning base hit.
In the Hendrix win, DePauw scored four each in the first and second innings and was never threatened. The Tigers totaled 10 hits led by Chelsy Patterson and Minx with two each. Bartlett drove in three, while Anton collected two RBI.
Megan Soultz allowed just three hits while striking out six in improving to 9-1. Sarah Hightower suffered the loss.Back
