Tigers Finish Second at SCAC Championships

April 26, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw totaled 137.5 points and finished second at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Blackstock Stadium. Trinity won with 210 points and Rhodes was third with 130.

Ryan McElwain won the SCAC shot put title with a throw of 14.32 meters (46-11.75) and placed second in the discus at 42.18 meters (138-5). Justin Bull was second in the triple jump at 13.15 meters (43-1.75), while Thomas Moore placed second in the hammer throw at 42.47 meters (139-4).

Also earning all-SCAC honors with second-place finishes were Nathan Ellis in the 10,000-meter run in 34:13.98, LaVaughn Johnson in the 400 meters in 50.48 seconds and Dusty Kime in the 1500 meters in 4:02.41. Brandon Hood was an all-SCAC performer with a third-place showing in the 800 meters in 2:00.96.

DePauw's 4x100 relay of Robert Steele, Elijah Campbell, Johnson and Steve Wojanis earned all-SCAC distinction with a third-place finish in 43.86 as did the 4x400 relay of Chris Dietrick, Johnson, Jake Sweeney and Hood with a second-place finish in 3:24.35.
