Tigers Ranked in Three Preseason Polls

mathews030808.jpgNovember 20, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - With the return of 10 letterwinners including three starters from last season's 28-4 squad, the Tigers have earned preseason rankings in three different Division III polls.

The Tigers enter the 2008-09 campaign ranked third by D3hoops.com behind Wisconsin-Whitewater and conference foe Oglethorpe. DePauw, ranked fifth at the conclusion of last season, picked up two of a possible 25 first-place votes and have been ranked in the top 25 of the last 71 D3hoops.com polls.

DePauw is ranked fifth in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll after finishing the season in that spot. The Tigers totaled 196 points and trailed Wisconsin-Whitewater, Oglethorpe, Kean (N.J.) and Washington-St. Louis.

The Tigers, ranked 11th by Women's DIII News, open the season on Friday, November 21, against Illinois Wesleyan in the Washington-St. Louis Tipoff Tournament. Friday's contest is at 5 p.m. CST with the live WGRE broadcast beginning shortly before tipoff. The Titans enter the season ranked 10th by D3hoops.com, 12th in the coaches' poll and 24th by Women's DIII News.
