Gardner Earns SCAC Player of the Week Honors

March 5, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw second baseman Ben Gardner hit .538 in four weekend games and was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Offensive Player of the Week.
The Tigers swept a doubleheader with Anderson and split with Transylvania as the sophomore collected seven hits in 13 at-bats. Gardner scored six runs, drove in four, hit three doubles and posted a .769 slugging percentage. He also recorded a .625 on-base percentage and was perfect in four steal attempts.
DePauw returns to action on Friday, March 6, when it hosts Illinois Wesleyan in a seven-inning/nine-inning doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. They also face Hanover in a single, nine-inning game on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and tangle with Illinois Wesleyan in another single game on Sunday at Noon.
Friday's second game as well as the Saturday and Sunday contests will be carried live by WGRE (91.5.FM) .
