March 18, 2009, Minneapolis, Minn. — DePauw junior John Cook once again broke his own 50-yard freestyle school record and earned honorable mention all-America honors at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
After entering the meet with the 13th fastest time in the country and finishing 11th in today's prelims in 20.38 seconds, Cook finished ninth in the finals in 20.17. He finished 11th in the event last year and the all-America honor was the eighth of his career including relays.
Cook and John Montgomery compete in Thursday's 200 free, while Charlie Boehme will do the same in the 400 individual medley. The Tigers' 200 free relay of Cook, Montgomery, Josh Baugh and Steve Klabak will also swim tomorrow.
