Tigers Sweep Sewanee; Remain Unbeaten in SCAC

April 4, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. —  DePauw, ranked 13th by Division III Softball - The Newsletter and 15th in the coaches' poll, improved to 15-7 overall and 6-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after sweeping Sewanee by scores of 19-0 and 22-0. Sewanee dropped to 0-13 overall and 0-6 in the conference while the Tigers extended their SCAC win streak to 24 with the two five-inning wins.

The Tigers totaled 18 hits in the opener as 13 different players had at least one. Chelsy Patterson, Jennifer Kosinski, Ashlee Anton, Kelly Schwerzler and Alexis Travers each had two. Kirstern Girsch led with four RBI on a pinch-hit grand slam. Kristin Barrow allowed just one hit and struck out 10 in improving to 1-0. Courtney Hinkle dropped to 0-7.

DePauw finished with 21 hits in the nightcap as 12 different players had at least one. Anton led the way with four, while Patterson, Brianne Weeks, Lauren Rees, Rachel Gill and Gersch each had two. Patterson and Kosinski each drove in four with Andton scoring four. Barrow pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out 10 in improving to 2-0. Regan Rau dropped to 0-6.

Sunday's Noon doubleheader has been moved to 10 a.m. due to unfavorable weather in the forecast. Weather permitting, live stats will be available.
