November 25, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw senior defender Beau Sorg (left) capped off his collegiate career by earning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Year award in voting by the conference's head coaches.
A second team all-SCAC player in 2008, Sorg shared the conference's top honor with Trinity's Alan Llobet. Sorg not only contributed to the Tigers' defensive efforts, which included just 14 goals allowed, but also was the team's leading scorer with six goals. He added two assists for a team-high 14 points.
Senior midfielder Brian Lawless and senior goalkeeper Ted Jacobi each earned second team accolades. Lawless played and started all 18 games with two goals and one assist in earning his first all-conference honor. Jacobi started 10 games in goal with a 0.60 goals against average and posted five of the Tigers' nine shutouts. He was the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.
Junior defender Alex Johnson and sophomore defender Andrew Desmarais earned spots on the third team for their first all-SCAC recognition.
DePauw finished the season with a 12-5-1 overall record and tied for third in the SCAC standings at 6-4. The season marked DePauw's 27th straight .500 or better finish.
