DePauw Faces Lakeland in NCAA Women's Basketball First Round

March 1, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — After capturing the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title with yesterday's 63-37 win over Centre, DePauw (25-3) earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship and faces Lakeland College (22-6) in the opening round on Friday.

The teams will square off at Hope College's DeVos Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m.. The other side of the bracket features Hope (27-1) against Denison (21-7) at 7:30 p.m. The winners will meet Saturday night at 7 p.m. for the right to advance to the round of 16. Ticket information will be available later.

DePauw is making its seventh straight appearance in the national tournament and 11th in the last 15 years. The Tigers won the 2007 national title, finished third in 2002 and advanced to the national quarterfinals in 2006 and 2008. This season DePauw has won 21 straight since dropping a 74-66 decision at Birmingham-Southern on December 6.
