DePauw Finishes Fifth at ITA National Indoor Championship; Emory Wins Title

Emory_ITA_Champs.jpgFebruary 28, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  The 11th-ranked and seventh-seed DePauw women's tennis team posted a 2-1 record and finished fifth at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women's Team Indoor Championship at the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center.

Top-seed and third-ranked Emory (pictured) won the title with a 6-3 win over second-seed and fourth-ranked Chicago in the championship match.

DePauw opened the tournament with an 8-1 loss to Chicago before rallying in the consolation bracket with a pair of wins on Saturday. The Tigers defeated sixth-seed and 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins by an 8-1 score and then beat 13th-ranked and eighth-seed Gustavus Adolphus by a 5-4 score for fifth place.
