Romero, Lazar Earn Top SCAC Honors

May 19, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw freshman Camila Romero was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Freshman of the Year and head coach Vince Lazar was tabbed the conference's Coach of the Year in voting by the league's head coaches. Romero finished the season with the Tigers' third-best stroke average at 83.3 over 27 rounds. She posted five top-10 finishes in her 11 tournament including a share of the Katman Klassic title.
The Cali, Colombia, resident equaled the team's best single round with a 74 in the opening round of the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.
Lazar earned his sixth conference coach of the year award after directing the Tigers to their sixth SCAC title in 12 years. Earlier this month he was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his career.
Lazar, the 2002 and 2004 Division III Coach of the Year, also led this year's Tigers to their ninth straight NCAA Division III Championship appearance. The team finished sixth for its eighth top-six performance in the nine Championships
