Three DePauw Students Named All-SCAC; Arita and Riggle Earn Top Honors

Arita_Janelle_200910_wtennis.jpgMackie_Greer_200910_wtennis.jpgMay 3, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. —  Three DePauw student-athletes were selected to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Team and head coach Scott Riggle was named the league's Coach of the Year in voting by the SCAC's head coaches.

Junior Janelle Arita (far left) picked up 10 votes for the top player in the conference and totaled 107 points in earned the SCAC's Player of the Year honor. Arita garnered all-SCAC honors in each of her first two seasons and was the second highest vote-getter each time. The Mililani, Hawaii, resident posted a 17-5 singles record at number-one singles in the regular season and is 18-4 in doubles play mainly at second doubles.

Riggle_Scott_0708wten.jpgSenior Greer Mackie (above right) finished sixth in the all-conference voting with 43 points. The Chesterfield, Mo., resident earned all-conference honors in 2007 and 2009. She has an 18-8 singles record at primarily the number-three position and is 22-6 in doubles mostly at the number-one spot with Kayla Smith.

Smith of Fishers, Ind., was an honorable mention choice with a 17-10 singles mark mostly at number-four singles and a 24-6 doubles record primarily with Mackie at the number-one spot.

DePauw head coach Scott Riggle (right) was named the SCAC Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to a third straight conference title. Riggle has posted a 182-69 record in 10 seasons as the DePauw women's head coach.

The ninth-ranked Tigers are 20-4 on the season and headed to their sixth straight NCAA Division III Championship.
