11th-ranked DePauw Improves to 7-2 with Road Win over Alma

December 21, 2010, Alma, Mich. — Alex Gasaway scored a career-high 18 and Lauren Goff knocked down 5-of-6 three-pointers as 11th-ranked DePauw defeated host Alma, 84-58. The Tigers improved to 7-2, while the Scots dropped to 1-9.
DePauw held a 16-15 first-half lead before scoring 14 straight including five from Gasaway for a 30-15 lead with 5:56 left in the half. The Tigers stretched the lead to as many as 19 before going to the break with a 41-24 advantage.
Katie Mathews hit a bucket and Goff nailed a three for the second half's first points as the Tigers extended the lead to 22. The Scots got no closer than 18 the rest of the way.
Gasaway's 18 came on 7-of-11 from the field. Goff followed with 14 and Kate Walker added 11. Ellie Pearson grabbed 13 rebounds including five on the offensive glass. Walker dished out six assists.
Sydney Beckwith led Alma with 20 points, while Danielle Hicks added 12. Beckwith paced the Scots with five rebounds and four steals.
The Tigers shot 53.4 percent from the field including 57.7 percent in the first half. DePauw held a 45-25 edge on the boards. Alma shot 38.6 percent from the floor and hit just one of 11 three-point attempts.
DePauw returns to action on Tuesday, December 28, when it hosts the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament. The Tigers face Rose-Hulman in the 5 p.m. game, while Ripon and John Carroll square off at 3 p.m. Wednesday's third-place game is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the title contest set for 5 p.m.
