Lauer Finishes Fourth in NCAA Division III Pentathlon for Second All-America Honor

March 11, 2011, Columbus, Ohio — DePauw senior Courtney Lauer broke her own school record with 3,395 points in the pentathlon and earned all-America honors after placing fourth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Capital University.
Lauer began the day with a personal best in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.20 seconds before placing fifth in the high jump at 1.58 meters (5-2 1/4) which equaled her best collegiate performance.
She then placed second in the shot put at 10.36 meters (34-0) and fourth in the long jump with another personal best of 5.23 meters (17-2). She wrapped it up with a third-place showing in the 800-meter run in yet a other top time of 2:23.69.
Emma Dewart of Ithaca won with 3,535 points, while Gustavus Adolphus' Janey Helland was second with 3,526 points and Emily Oliver of Baldwin-Wallace third with 3,411 points.
Lauer earned all-America honors at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a sixth-place showing in the heptathlon.
