#6 Denison Tops Albion to Advance to NCAA Third Round

May 13, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Sixth-ranked Denison improved to 17-4 on the season and advanced to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships third round following a 5-0 win over Albion. The Britons finished their season at 15-4 with the loss. The Big Red face host DePauw in Saturday's third-round match at Noon.

Denison's 3-0 doubles sweep started with the number-one team of Kristin Cobb and Sarah Short defeating Katie Blumberg and Sarah Towler by an 8-1 score before Kelsey Geppner and Alex Marcell topped Shelley Zamler and Marissa Messenger at the number-two slot by an 8-1 count. The third doubles tandem of Kate Westenberger and Jane Lent then beat Leah Saurman and Megan Vylonis by an 8-2 score which pushed the Big Red's lead to 3-0.

Westenberger defeated Saurman 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles before Alex Marcell wrapped up the match with a 6-0 6-0 win over Messenger
