Tigers Drop Exhibition Game at Evansville

October 29, 2011, Evansville, Ind. — Division I Evansville shot nearly 58 percent from the floor and held DePauw to just over 31 percent and the Purple Aces came away with an 81-52 exhibition win over the Tigers in the first game at the Ford Center.
DePauw stayed close early and trailed just 11-7 after Michael Wilkison's layup with 14:08 left in the first half, but Evansville scored the next seven points and 12 of the next 14 to push the lead to 23-9 at the midpoint of the first half. The Aces scored nine straight to close the half and took a 42-18 lead into the intermission.
The hosts then extended the lead to 30 early in the second half with an 8-2 run. Evansville's lead reached as many as 33 and the Tigers got as close as 22 the rest of the way.
Evansville hit 57.7 percent of their field goal tries including 63.0 percent in the first half, while DePauw shot just 31.1 percent from the floor and only 18.2 percent in the first half.
Wilkison paced the Tigers with 12 points, while Barry Flynn added 11 and Sean Haseley 10. Haseley hit all three three-pointers he attempted.
Kenny Harris and Ned Cox each scored 13 for the Purple Aces followed by Denver Holmes and Colt Ryan with 12 each and Jordan Jahr with 11. Ryan also dished out six assists.
Evansville held a 36-23 advantage on the boards as Troy Taylor and Jahr each had seven. Caron Burns led DePauw with six boards.
DePauw opens the regular season on Friday, November 18, against Marygrove at Case Western Reserve's tournament.
