Tigers roll to 25-point win at Wabash

Crawfordsville, Ind. - DePauw outrebounded host Wabash 50-38 and held the Little Giants to just 25 percent shooting on the way to a 71-46 win. The Tigers improved to 3-2 on the season, while Wabash dropped to 1-5. The victory was DePauw's second in four days over the Little Giants as they won 85-63 in Greencastle on Sunday.
DePauw trailed just briefly at 3-2 before scoring 11 straight to take a 13-3 lead. The Tigers pushed the lead to as many as 13 at 32-19 after Joey Hanger buried a three with 25 seconds left in the half to cap off a 5-0 run. The teams went to the break with the Tigers leading 32-21.
Wabash scored the first four points of the second half to close the margin to seven, but the Tigers put together an 11-2 run over a stretch of 3:25 to take a 43-27 lead. Leading 59-43 with five minutes to play, DePauw put the game out of reach with nine straight points by Todd Capes to push the lead to 25.
Alex Stewart led the Tigers with 17 as he hit four-of-five three-pointers, while Derek Lawrence added 15 points and Capes notched a career high with 12. Jon Owens grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds and dished out four assists, while Capes added seven rebounds and Lawrence and Stewart each hauled down six. Adonis Joseph led the Little Gianst with nine points.
DePauw connected on 45 percent from the floor with Wabash shooting just 25 percent including 22 percent in the second half.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, December 6, when they host 5-0 and 20th-ranked Albion at 7 p.m.
