September 19, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - In a battle of nationally-ranked teams, eighth-ranked DePauw lost for the first time this season in a 3-0 decision against visiting and 21st-ranked Wheaton. DePauw dropped to 5-1 with the loss, while the Thunder improved to 5-1.
Maria Della Torre scored the eventual game-winning goal just 18 minutes into the contest on an assist from Taryne Lee. Erin Hodina and Sarah Richardson each added second-half scores in the victory.
Wheaton outshot DePauw 14-8 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Kristin Eggert and Justine Morey shared the shutout in goal for the Thunder as each recorded three saves. Brooke Shipley had four stops for the Tigers.
DePauw travels to 12th-ranked Chicago for a 2 p.m. CDT contest on Saturday, September 23.
