Tigers stay in first in SCAC race with overtime win at Hendrix

February 9, 2007, Conway, Ark. - Matt McDonald's three-point play with 21 seconds left in overtime gave DePauw a 75-72 lead and Reid Sakel's two free throws with 11 seconds remaining sealed the win as the Tigers defeated host Hendrix, 77-72.
DePauw improved to 18-4 overall and 9-2 in the SCAC, while Hendrix dropped to 13-8 overall and 5-6 in the conference.
In a game that included 17 ties and 16 lead changes and neither team leading by more than six points, the Tigers went to the break with a 37-35 lead after scoring the final four points of the half. DePauw held a five-point lead at 59-54 with just under five mintues to play, but the Warriors went on a 7-0 run to take a 61-59 edge with 1:22 remaining.
DePauw's Austin Brown hit two free throws with 1:12 left in regulation to tie the game at 61-61, but Hendrix's Justin Avery lifted the Warriors to a 63-61 lead on a jumper with 37 seconds remaining. Brown then forced the overtime with a bucket with 24 seconds left.
The Tigers hit 3-of-5 field goals in the overtime including 2-of-3 from three-point range and outscored the hosts, 14-9.
Mike Moore paced four DePauw double-figure scorers with 20 points, while Matt McDonald added 13. Stephen Schott recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Brown followed with 10 points.
Andrew King led Hendrix with 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Matt Secrease added 19 points and Michael Bennett dropped in 11.
DePauw shot 42.1 percent from the floor for the game to the Warriors' 43.3 percent, but the Tigers knocked down 8-of-18 three-pointers and 21-of-23 free throws.
