DePauw Falls to Trinity in SCAC Baseball Championship

April 23, 2011, Millington, Tenn. — DePauw jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Trinity responded with four in the third on the way to a 7-4 win in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Championship.
DePauw dropped to 16-19 and faces Hendrix in Saturday's 4:30 p.m. CDT elimination game. Trinity improved to 31-11 and faces Rhodes on Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT.
The game started at midnight, five hours late, after the previous contest between Rhodes and Oglethorpe went 21 innings.
Zach Galyean got the Tigers started with a solo homer in the first before Aaron Henry drove in Sam Swafford with a second-inning single giving DePauw a 2-0 lead.
Kevin Clements led off the Trinity third with a single and moved to second on John Paillet's sacrifice bunt. Kevin Jackson followed with an RBI single. Kyle Felix then plated Jackson with a sacrifice fly. Nick Pappas made it 4-2 with a two-run shot to left.
Trinity added solo runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings before DePauw scored two in the seventh. Alex Wright, Robbie Stein and Swafford hit consecutive singles before Wright scored on a wild pitch and Stein came home on Alex Berlyn's grounder.
The Tigers loaded the bases with two out in the eighth, but the inning ended with a pick off.
DePauw totaled seven hits with Rob McPike leading the way with two. Trinity finished with 10 hits as Jackson had three with Dominick Robusto and Clements adding two apiece.
Noah Solomon improved to 5-2 with the win, while Franklin Bay picked up his first save. Elliott Ross dropped to 4-5 with the loss.Back
