Tigers Open NCAA Play Tomorrow Night

pruzin030808.jpgMarch 5, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw, 22-5 on the season, opens NCAA Division III Championship play tomorrow evening when it faces 23-5 Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the first round. Tipoff from Illinois Wesleyan's Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill., is set for 6 pm. CST with WGRE providing live audio. A complete set of DePauw's game notes is available for download.

The Tigers, ranked 22nd by D3hoops.com and 21st in the latest USA Today ESPN Coaches' Poll, are making their sixth straight NCAA Division III postseason appearance and 10th in the last 14 years. DePauw has an 18-8 postseason record including a national championship in 2007, a third-place finish in 2002 and three straight quarterfinal appearances.

The Blugolds are ranked ninth by D3hoops.com and 13th in the coaches' poll and are making their 15th NCAA appearance. Wisconsin-Eau Claire is 30-14 in tournament play, finishing second once and third on two occasions.

Friday's 8 p.m. CST game features top-ranked and undefeated Illinois Wesleyan against Ohio Wesleyan. Friday's winners meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. CST.

Tickets, which are $7 for adults and $4 for students & senior citizens, will be available at the gate.
