50054February 13, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. —  The 14th-ranked DePauw women's basketball team wraps up the home portion of its regular season schedule when it hosts Sewanee this afternoon at Noon.

DePauw is 19-3 overall and 12-1 in SCAC play following Friday’s 86-57 win over Oglethorpe. The Tigers enter the contest with a 62-game home SCAC win streak which dates back to the 2002-03 season. Sewanee is 2-21 overall and 0-14 in the SCAC following Friday's 78-63 loss at Centre.

The weekend games are also part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) Pink Zone breast cancer awareness initiative. In addition to wearing pink to the games in support of the initiative, fans can donate at the gate each day. Suggestions for admission donations each day are $5 for adults and $2 for students with children admitted free.

Pink Zone is a national effort throughout the sport of women's college basketball to raise cancer awareness, and money for the cause. Fans who attend our weekend games will have an opportunity to support the cause via game admission donations, and in other ways. While the wearing of pink is a symbolic way of supporting the cause, and those people impacted by the disease, the team's goals are many:

  • raise awareness,
  • raise money
  • support and remember the afflicted, and those who care for them
  • honor and remember the late Kay Yow, the longtime, hall of fame coach of the North Carolina State women's basketball team who lost her decades-long battle with breast cancer two years ago.
