Five Student-Athletes Earn Field Hockey Academic Award; Team also Recognized

March 17, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Five DePauw student-athletes have been selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad and the team was honored as well.

Senior Carolyn Mueller, junior Sarah Riffle as well as sophomores Liz Attewell and Katie Sowar and freshman Morgan Busam earned spots on the national academic squad for having at least a 3.30 first semester grade point average.
Mueller has earned the honor all four years, while Riffle, Sowar and Attewell are making their second appearance on the squad.
As a team, DePauw was one of 97 Division III programs with a first semester team grade point average of at least 3.0.
DePauw finished the 2008 season with a 14-4 overall record and third at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
