Riffle Named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week

riffle_sarah_2009fhweb.jpgOctober 1, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. —  DePauw senior forward Sarah Riffle has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for games played, September 21-27.

Riffle scored four goals in two games to lead DePauw to a 2-0 record during week. Against Division II opponent Bellarmine University on Wednesday Riffle scored the Tiger's second goal in a 2-0 victory.

In a game suspended for rain, Riffle scored three goals in just over 30 minutes to lead the Tigers' to a 3-2 victory at Sewanee. Riffle's first goal of the game came just two minutes after play was resumed on another direct shot from a penalty corner.

Just under two minutes into the second half Riffle scored her second goal of the game to put the Tigers ahead 2-1. The game winner, and Riffle's third goal of the game, was scored with six minutes left to play on another penalty corner play.

Riffle's hat trick was her second for the year, as she has been the leader for the Tiger offense on the forward line.

DePauw hosts Hendrix at 5 p.m. on Friday and Rhodes at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
