Tigers six strokes back midway through NCAA Championships; Gates tied for individual lead

Green Lake, Wis. - The top-ranked Tigers remained six strokes out of first place midway through the NCAA Division III Championships at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia after shooting a second-round 326.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh leads with a two-round 647 with six-time defending national champion Methodist in second with a 650 and the Tigers in third with a 653.
Freshman Sarah Gates is tied for the individual lead with McDaniel's Kelly Cramp and Concordia's (Minn.) Katie Taylor. All three are at 154. Gates, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, shot a 78 today after firing a 76 on Tuesday.
Senior Deb Garriott moved up five spots to a tie for ninth with today's round of 81 for a two-day total of 162. Junior Lindsay Amore is tied for 24th with a 168 followed by senior Jessica Schneider in a tie for 29th with a 169 and sophomore Lisa Chambers is tied for 43rd with a 173.
Third-round play begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday and the tournament concludes on Friday.
