Tigers remain in third headed into final round; Gates fourth in individual competition

Green Lake, Wis. - The top-ranked Tigers shot a 324 in the third round of the NCAA Division III Championships at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia, but remained in third place heading into Friday's fourth and final round.
Six-time defending champion Methodist College shot a 314 on Thursday to move into first with a three-round total of 964. Mary Hardin-Baylor shot a tournament-low 313 today to move into second place with a 971. The Tigers are in third at 977 with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh right behind at 978.
Freshman Sarah Gates is fourth, just two strokes off the lead, in the individual competition with a three-round 234 after shooting an 80 in the third round. Methodist's Charlotte Williams leads the field with a 232 followed by Brittany Cary of McMurry and Katie Taylor of Concordia (Minn.) with a 233.
Senior Deb Garriott is in 14th place with a 243 after shooting her third consecutive round of 81. Top-ranked Jessica Schneider is tied for 23rd with a 249 after shooting an 80 on Thursday. Junior Lindsay Amore is tied for 30th with a 252 followed by sophomor Lisa Chambers in a tied for 39th with a 256.
Final-round play begins at 8 a.m. on Friday.
