DePauw finishes tied for third at NCAA Championships

ncaawomen.jpgMay 13, 2005, Southern Pines, N.C. - The third-ranked DePauw women's golf team shot a final round 328 and finished in a tie for third at the NCAA Division III Championships at Mid Pines.

DePauw finished in a tie with Wisconsin-Eau Claire as each totaled 1337 strokes. Methodist won with a 1272 followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1284. Methodist's Charlotte Williams won the individual title with a 304.

The third place finish was the Tigers' fourth consecutive top four showing at the national championships. DePauw finished fourth in 2002 and third in 2003 and 2004.

Ali Murtaugh finished her first NCAA competition by finishing in a tie for 15th as she shot a 331 including an 81 in the final round. Sarah Gates shot a fourth-round 83 and finished in a tie for 18th with a 334.

Lauren Brummett shot a 79 today and finished the tournament with a 340 which was good for a tie for 26th. Lindsey Amore finished in a tie for 29th with a 341 including an 86 in the final round, while Lisa Chambers tied for 33rd with a 344 and an 85 today.
