Gates earns Kim Moore Spirit Award; all five Tigers named all-region

May 12, 2006, Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - DePauw junior Sarah Gates came away with two awards at the National Golf Coaches Association annual Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the Division III Championships.

Gates was presented the Kim Moore Spirit Award which is awarded to the student-athlete who exemplifies a great spirit toward the game of golf, a positive attitude on and off the golf course, a role model for her team and mental toughness in facing challenges. Gates was also awarded her third consecutive first team all-America honor. Sophomore Ali Murtaugh joined Gates on the all-America team as an honorable mention selection.

Two-time Division III Coach of the Year, Vince Lazar was named the Region II Coach of the Year and all five Tiger starters earned spots on the 10-player all-region team. Joining Gates and Murtaugh on the team were seniors Lauren Brummett and Lisa Chambers and sophomore Kristen Kriegshauser.
