DePauw finishes third at NCAA Championships; Gates ties for fourth

May 12, 2006, Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - DePauw shot a final round 335 and finished third at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.
The Tigers finished third at the Division III Championships for the fourth straight year and this year's finish marked DePauw's fifth straight top-four finish in the seven-year history of the tournament. Only Methodist College has more top-three finishes.
DePauw finished with a four-round total of 1317, while Methodist College won its seventh straight Division III title with a 1240. Gustavus Adolphus finished second with a 1316.
Junior Sarah Gates finished in a tie for fourth with a 313 after shooting a 79 today. The finish equaled Gates' best at the national tournament as she finished fourth in 2004.
Sophomore Ali Murtaugh finished in a tie for 15th with a 327 after shooting an 82 in the final round. Senior Lauren Brummett finished in 28th place with a 339 after shooting an 88 today.
Senior Lisa Chambers and sophomore Kristen Kriegshauser each tied for 32nd at 344 as Chambers shot an 89 in the fourth round and Kriegshauser shot an 86.
Methodist's Charlotte Williams was the medalist for the second straight year after leading the field with a 308.
