Ninth-ranked DePauw Finishes Fifth at National Invitational

September 14, 2009, Notre Dame, Ind. — The ninth-ranked Tigers shot a second-round 323 for a 653 total and finished fifth in the O'Brien National Invitational at The Warren at Notre Dame.
Kelly Gaughan (pictured) paced the Tigers with a 160 and finished in a tie for 14th, while Taylor Beaty fired a 76 today and finished in a tie for 17th with a 161.
Erin Kielty tied for 22nd with a 164, followed by Sam Strahler in a tie for 34th at 168 and Camila Romero in a tie for 50th with a 176. Playing as an individual, Meagan Hayes shot a 190 and finished 61st.
The tournament included the top finishing teams from the 2009 NCAA Division III Championships and Methodist won with a 618. Wisconsin-Eau Claire was second with a 620 followed by St. Mary's (Ind.) at 629 and Gustavus Adolphus at 646. Martyna Mierzwa of St. Mary's was the medalist with a 147 including a 71 today.
DePauw competes in the Ball State Invitational, September 19-20.
